PEORIA HEIGHTS — Frankly, the place is a mess.
Peeling paint. Filthy floors. Boarded up windows. Exposed insulation. Piles of stuff. Pegboard walls, and other remnants of the motorcycle repair shop it most recently was.
Optimists all, Jeff and Martha Huebner and developer Katie Kim stood inside the 110-year-old building Friday morning, looked around, and described the gleaming Trefzger’s Bakery that they saw.
“Really it’s not as bad as you might think,” Jeff Huebner said. “It’s mostly just a matter of gutting it and starting from scratch. The building is remarkably sound structurally.”
