GALVESTON, Texas — Thirty of the 35 oyster harvesting areas along the Texas Cost will be closed come November 1st, due to a variety of dangerous conditions found by the Coastal Fisheries Division of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
The Texas Department of State Health Services is enforcing these closures and alerted the public Thursday.
You might have to pay more for your oysters, if you can find them at all. The hardest hit area will be many of the small coastal communities who depend on commercial fishing to make a living.
