Power Your Lunchbox By Produce For Kids Donates 100,000 Meals To Families In Need

ORLANDO, Fla. – The second annual Power Your Lunchbox Pledge by Produce for Kids launched Aug. 3 and ran through Sept.18 and encouraged families and classrooms to pack healthier lunchboxes this school year. Produce for Kids’ partners supporting Power Your Lunchbox Pledge included GROW Bananas, Marie’s® Dressings, Crispy Green® and Pero Family Farms® with additional support provided by Bentology™. For every pledge that families or individuals took, participating companies made a collective $1 donation to end child hunger through Feeding America’s children’s programs. Sponsors were prominently featured on poweryourlunchbox.com during the program and after pledging, consumers were rewarded with coupons encouraging purchase of sponsored products.

“Back to school is the perfect time to engage families with the healthy lunchbox and overall healthy eating message,”said Trish James, vice president, Produce for Kids. “Power You Lunchbox allows Produce for Kids to remain at the forefront of the back to school conversation while spotlighting partner products. It’s a huge win for us all, especially when we are able to give back to Feeding America’s children’s programs.

New in 2015, teachers were encouraged to pledge for their classrooms and had access to healthy eating lesson plans to utilize with their students. 86 classrooms took the pledge during the 2015 campaign.
