WASHINGTON CROSSING, Pa. — Bimbo Bakeries USA successfully brought together almost 1,000 people to take part in a race held in 22 cities located in 19 countries, as part of the first-ever Global Energy Bimbo Race, an initiative to help promote active and healthy lifestyles among families. The race started at 8 a.m. in Beijing (Beiing time) and ended at 11:30 a.m. (Pacific Time) in Los Angeles.
“We are very proud and happy to provide a fun and healthy environment for PA families with the support of ACME markets and the Philadelphia Union Soccer team,” stated Renee Zendejas, Bimbo Bread Sr. Brand Manager.
The Global Energy Bimbo Race was held for the first time ever in the following cities: Asunción, Beijing, Belo Horizonte, Bogota, Buenos Aires, Caracas, Guadalajara, Guatemala, Lima, Lisbon, Long Beach, Madrid, Managua, Mexico City, Monterrey, Montevideo, Panama City, Philadelphia, San José, San Salvador, Santiago and Tegucigalpa. With 3, 5 and 10 kilometer categories, this sporting event was open to runners of all ages, as well as their families and friends.
In Washington Crossing, PA, the race brought together almost 1,000 runners, as well as offering other recreational activities, such as face painting, yoga, inflatables, and the visit of Eric Bird and Brian Sylvestre from the Philadelphia Union soccer team.
With the support of its strategic partner, FOX Sports, coverage for the race was extensive, from live transmissions from Mexico to multiple relays in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, Spain and the United States. Furthermore, a number of famous faces from FOX Sports took part in the race in their respective countries. Valeria Marín, Ricardo Murguia, Alex Blanco and Ruben Rodriguez in Mexico; Lola Hernandez in Spain; Alexis Garcia and Alejandro Pino in Colombia; Máximo Palma and Juan José Buscalia in Argentina; Juvenal Olmos and Rodrigo Goldberg in Chile; and Diego Bertozi and Eduardo Elias in Brazil were just some of the celebrities to actively participate in the Global Energy Bimbo Race.

The winners of the 10 kilometer category in Washington Crossing, PA were Paul Matuszak and Natalie Johnson. These winners will be given an all-expense paid trip to next year’s race, to the city of their choice.
