WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) will be the keynote speaker at the American Bakers Association’s (ABA) NextGenBaker Group Dinner on October 21, during the ABA 2015 Fall Policy Conference in Washington, D.C.
With the dinner attendees representing the next generation of leaders for the baking industry, Sen. Gardner will share his perspective on leadership development and the career path that brought him to the United States Senate.
“We are honored to have Senator Cory Gardner join us as the keynote speaker of the NextGenBaker Group dinner next month in Washington,” said NextGenBaker Co-Chair Morgan Murphy, Mother Murphy’s Labs. “Senator Gardner is a rising star in the United States Senate, after winning an incredibly close race in 2014. We are eager to learn his outlook for the 114th Congress’s agenda, as well as his thoughts on leadership and what led him to run for office,” said Murphy.
Sen. Gardner is a fifth-generation Coloradan who was born and raised in Yuma, a small town on the eastern plains of Colorado where his family has owned a farm-implement dealership for nearly a century. After working at his family implement business and the National Corn Growers Association, Sen. Gardner took a position as a Legislative Assistant for Senator Wayne Allard (R-CO) and quickly advanced to Legislative Director. He began serving in the Colorado House of Representatives in 2005 where he spent time as the Minority Whip and became known for his expertise in natural resource and agriculture policy. Sen. Gardner was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2010.
In the Senate, he pursues common-sense energy policy as a member of the Senate Energy & Natural Resource Committee. In addition, Sen. Gardner serves on the Foreign Relations Committee, the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, and the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee. He serves as Chairman of the Subcommittee on East Asia, the Pacific, and International Cybersecurity Policy.
