SCOTLAND’S farmed salmon production rose to a record level last year, a survey has revealed.
The annual survey, published by the Scottish Government, also shows a significant increase in employment in the fish farming sector north of the Border in 2014.
The Scottish Fish Farm Production Survey 2014 shows that 179,022 tonnes of farmed Atlantic salmon was produced last year.
This is the highest annual level of production ever recorded in Scotland, and represents an increase of nearly 10 per cent on the 2013 figure.
