Laid Off Workers Return To Jennie-O As Company Looks To Rebound From Bird Flu

Some of the Jennie-O Turkey Store workers laid-off at the height of bird flu outbreak are back at work.

In May, we reported 200 workers were laid-off from the plant in Faribault. About 65 are back at work.

Jennie-O says it doesn't have a timeline on when all of the employees will be able to return to work. 

Austin-based Hormel, which owns Jennie-O, says bird flu hit it hard. Shares wavered Wednesday after the company said its quarterly profit grew but reported disappointing sales. Sales and profits at the company's Jennie-O Turkey store business fell because of the bird flu epidemic. Lower pork prices and the strong dollar are hurting sales overseas.
