A&P: Union Puts Store Sales In Jeopardy

After two hours of listening to A&P and union leaders battle on two key job provisions — bumping rights and full severance — and how they could impact the sale of the iconic supermarket's stores, a U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge convinced both parties to head back to the negotiating table.

Judge Robert Drain asked for a private meeting with all of the lawyers during a Monday hearing in White Plains before emerging to announce both sides agreed to sit down one final time.

"We all concluded it would be worthwhile over the next day to see if an agreement couldn't be reached," Drain said. "Good luck."
