Shatto Milk Company’s small batch cheese curds are quickly making a name for themselves. Shatto Milk Company’s Cajun Cheese Curds were awarded “Second Place” in the Cheese Curds with Flavor Added Category during the 32nd Annual American Cheese Society Conference and Competition. Shatto Cheese Curds are made in small batches hand packed into small pouches on the Shatto’s family dairy farm located in Clinton County, Missouri. The Cheese is made with fresh milk from the Shatto’s small herd of dairy cows.
“We are humbled by such an award as the American Cheese Competition brings out the best products in the country to be judged. We never thought our curds would rank amongst the best within such a short period of time.” Said Barb Shatto. “It is our cows that deserve the credit as we truly believe good cheese is only possible with outstanding milk.” Shatto Milk products have received many international awards a over the past two years as Shatto Root Beer Milk received 1st place, strawberry milk 2nd place and their 2% white milk 2nd place at the World Dairy Exposition, which is held annually in Madison, Wisconsin and both Shatto’s Plattsburg Gouda cheese and Garlic Butter were named 3rd at the American Cheese Society Competition over the past few years.
Both competitions bring in products from around the world.

The American Cheese Society (ACS) is the leading organization supporting the understanding, appreciation, and promotion of farmstead, artisan and specialty cheeses and butters produced in the Americas. Since its founding in 1983, ACS proudly hosts North America’s foremost annual educational conference and world-renowned cheese and butter judging competition.
Nearly 1,000 individuals attended the 2015 conference in Providence, RI. The 2015 Judging and Competition saw a record number of entries: 1771 cheese and butter products from 267 different companies in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Shatto Milk Company is a small family dairy farm located 30 miles north of Kansas City. They began bottling their world famous milk on the farm in June 2003, and just opened their cheese making facility on the farm in March of this year. They currently make cheese curds as well as a variety of aged farmstead cheeses that are available for sale at the farm as well as at select grocery stores in the Kansas City and St. Joseph areas.
