DiMare Indio Fills Supply Gap With Lemons From Mexico

INDIO, Calif. —  DiMare Indio has taken an important step towards its year-round lemon program. With the Mexican lemon season coming on fast, DiMare Indio will be shipping lemons from Mexico through its McAllen, Texas service center, complimenting its west coast shipping point in Indio California. McAllen offers a substantial freight savings for Midwest and east coast receivers compared to California. Peak volumes from McAllen will be available mid-August through mid-October before the California desert deal kicks into high gear. Citrus sales for McAllen will be handled through DiMare’s Indio of?ce.

“McAllen is strategically located and provides a value-added service that makes us more competitive in eastern markets during the seasonal gap between the coastal and desert growing regions, says Woody Johnson, General Manager DiMare California.
