State Looks To Partner With Private Sector On Healthy Snack Program Targeting Hawaii Obesity

A joint government initiative aiming to reduce obesity in Hawaii through providing healthy snack options for Hawaii state employees is expanding.

The Choose Healthy Now project launched in May 2014 at snack shops in six state and federal government building on Oahu and will add 12 more locations this year.

Department of Health Director of Communications Janice Okubo told PBN the state seeks to partner with private sector businesses in the coming months.

Participating vendors label items green, yellow, and red to guide healthier eating choices.
