Queen Anne's County, MD Gives $10,000 Toward Oyster Recovery Efforts

CENTREVILLE — The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners approved a request from the local watermen’s association for $10,000 to support oyster recovery efforts by Harris Seafood Company.

In a news release, Economic Development Director Jamie Gilbert said, “The restoration project is being done through Harris for the Watermen’s Association members who will be harvesting the oysters. The money was given to Harris directly per the association’s request.”

Commissioner Robert Buckey said, “Support for economic development is a key component of the county commissioners’ initiatives and providing grant monies to increase the number of oysters in the Bay is economic development.”
