Tailgate Trainings Happening On United Fresh Convention Floor

Retail and foodservice customers – and now government regulators – are looking for assurances that workers throughout the produce industry have been trained and are following proper food safety practices.  Fortunately, those attending the upcoming United Fresh Produce Association convention in Chicago June 8 through 10, can see one of the produce industry’s most comprehensive and successful worker training programs in action.

In their joint booth (#2546 and #2547) the California and Arizona Leafy Greens Marketing Agreements will conduct live trainings just like they to do for leafy greens workers, harvest supervisors and food safety personnel in the fields and in the workplace. During the United show, multiple courses will be demonstrated — in both English and Spanish — in the booth space on the show floor for anyone interested in participating, listening-in or learning.  The versatility of the program will be demonstrated by industry representatives using various delivery models including video, tailgate flipcharts, posters, etc.

The sessions are scheduled to take place every half hour during show hours.  A complete list of the session times and topics can be found here.

The LGMA programs are working closely with FDA to make sure the curriculum complies with new training requirements that are part of the Food Safety Modernization Act.
