Prairie Farms Takes A Stand To Fill The Hunger Gap In Communities

Carlinville, IL – It’s time to kick off June Dairy Month and Prairie Farms is celebrating in a bigger and better way to fill the hunger gap for thousands of children and to provide the REAL facts about Prairie Farms milk.

On June 16th, Prairie Farms is going to help close the hunger gap by donating 11,000 gallons of milk to 22 local food banks in the communities the company is a part of. This donation will go to help thousands of children and families receive all the nutrients provided in milk. Milk is one of the most requested items at food banks but is rarely donated. As of now, current milk donations can only cover one gallon of milk per family, per year.

"Our farm families and employees are honored to be partnering with local food banks and proud to be a part of their efforts to help families in need,” said Ed Mullins, Executive Vice President and CEO of Prairie Farms Dairy. “There is a lot of ground to cover in the fight against hunger and we hope with this donation of nutrient rich milk, we can raise awareness and set an example for others involved in the community.”

Consumers can give back as well just by voting for the Our Caps Your Cause Food Bank of choice in the Get Real Give Back Sweepstakes. The top 10 food banks each week will receive a bonus cap donation valued at $50! Also, for every cap donated towards the listed food banks, Prairie Farms will donate 10 cents instead of 5 cents. Small change like that can make a big difference. Consumers can also participate by making a small donation to the Great American Milk Drive, the first-ever national program to help deliver milk to hungry families who need it the most. A donation as little as $5 will deliver a gallon of milk to a local family in need.

As Prairie Farms works to spread the message of hunger in their communities, they are also getting the record straight about all the goodness of milk. It is time to learn the facts of Prairie Farms Milk and accept no substitutes. Prairie Farms milk is locally owned, locally produced, and 100% real milk with no additional growth hormones. Prairie Farms takes pride in being owned by local farm families that are committed to taking care of their dairy cows. A farmer’s day to day routine keeps a spotlight on sustainable practices while producing a fresh high quality product.

Prairie Farms will also be featuring new Chef’s Splendor Milk in three indulgent flavors – Dark Chocolate Truffle, Vanilla Chai and Sea Salt Caramel, and the "Get Real Give Back" sweepstakes will award daily and weekly prize packages, all to commemorate June Dairy Month. Details of the month long celebration can be found at prairiefarms.com/getrealgiveback. The webpage includes a full list of food banks participating in the donation as well as details on the sweepstakes.
