Lévis, QC – On May 14th, in Wilmington, Del., IPL received the Diamond Award for packaging innovation from DuPont for its SkinnyPackMC technology used by Ana’s Foods.
In November 2014, IPL announced the launch of its first SkinnyPackMC container on the market in collaboration with the Texas based company Ana’s Foods. In search for a new packaging for its salsa sold in a 12 oz. rigid container, Anna Olvera-Ullrich, CEO of Ana’s Foods, immediately saw the potential of the SkinnyPackMC technology to attract customers and seize the opportunity to become its first user.
Standing out on store shelves, the package was then recommended to participate in the 27th edition of the DuPont Packaging Innovation Award.
The SkinnyPackMC is a hybrid packaging technology – both thin and robust – which marries a flexible IML label to a strong injection molded structure. It is a mono-material solution, environmentally responsible (100% recyclable) which uses up to 60% less plastic than comparable rigid formats. SkinnyPackMC offers numerous designs and formats able to adapt to existing filling manufacturing equipment, while offering high resolution graphic and the transparency of IML labels.
On May 14th, the SkinnyPackMC container of Ana’s Salsa was selected as the winner amongst one hundred and forty participants coming from more than twenty five countries all competing for the prestigious Dupont Packaging Innovation Award. This internationally renowned contest, established in 1986 and judged independently, honors innovations in packaging design, materials, technology and processes across the entire packaging value chain. The winner of the Diamond Award must have come first on three categories: technological advancement, responsible packaging and enhanced user experience.
This honor is the second earned by the SkinnyPackMC technology in less than a year. IPL also won the prize of best packaging prototype awarded by the In-Mold Decorating Association (IMDA) in 2014. IMDA is an organization of molders, printers, material suppliers and equipment manufacturers committed to the development and growth of in-mold decorating products, technologies and markets.
