Interrupcion Announces Start Of Its Third Harvest Season In Watsonville/Salinas

Brooklyn, NY – In an effort to continue promoting sustainable and responsible agriculture worldwide, Interrupcion (TASTE ME DO GOOD*) is pleased to announce the start of its third harvest season in the Watsonville and Salinas region of California.

"Our Watsonville office opened in 2013 and allowed Interrupcion to begin investing in domestically grown produce," says Abigail Woughter, Interrupcion Marketing Coordinator. "A commitment to socially responsible practices and organic farming in the U.S. is just as relevant as it is on our farms in South America. Every farm worker, no matter where he or she lives, should get fair pay in a timely manner under safe working conditions."

At the helm of the Watsonville office is Tony Serrano. As General Manager of Interrupcion California, Serrano oversees the farm incubator program and works directly with growers of organics (TASTE ME DO GOOD* blueberries, strawberries, broccoli, green curly kale, and Lacinato kale) in California. Serrano grew up in the industry and has worked the full gamut of the supply chain from production and logistics to sales, marketing and distribution. He has also co-taught an earth systems class at Stanford University.

TASTE ME DO GOOD*’s farm incubator program allows new farmers to lease Interrupcion's farmland for up to six years with access to tractors, equipment, irrigation, and other support for a reduced fee.

The objective is a long-term partnership with each grower, providing them the opportunity to move up the job ladder and teach them crop planning, production, organic farming techniques, marketing and distribution skills.

USA TASTE ME DO GOOD* products present a perfect retail opportunity for summer. "We're really excited about summer promotions of organic TASTE ME DO GOOD* blueberries and strawberries," says Woughter.  "What makes TASTE ME DO GOOD* berries different from any other U.S. berries is the confidence retailers and consumers have about how the berries were grown. Plus, each clamshell has a unique grower story and a positive impact behind it, making for a special shopping experience.”

TASTE ME DO GOOD* USA products available this summer include blueberries, strawberries, kale, and brocolli. Strawberries from California are already available and blueberry production from North Carolina began in May. USA grown blueberries are available from April through August. USA brocolli, kale and other wet vegetables see peak volume from May through August. "These products are even more eye-catching when promoted together and tell a story consumers care about," says Woughter.  "For example, we are working with a few key retailers to implement promotions that cross-merchandize our USA blueberries and strawberries with our three-pound pear bags from Argentina."
