LISLE, Illinois — Quality Chekd Dairies announced the selection of Umpqua Dairy Products, Co. (Roseburg, OR) as a finalist competing for the following 2015 Excellence Awards; The 2015 Irving B. Weber Distinguished Award for Quality Excellence, Production Excellence Award in both the Cultured Products and Ice Cream Categories; and the 2015 Outstanding Marketing Achievement Award’s Best Single Product Campaign’ and ‘Best Integrated Marketing Campaign’ Categories.
Named for Quality Chekd’s first board president, the invitation-only Weber Award is modeled after the esteemed Malcom Baldrige National Quality Award from the U.S. Department of Commerce. The Irving B. Weber Award recognizes those member dairies that have earned the highest annual scores from Quality Chekd in the areas of production quality, business ethics and leadership, customer satisfaction, marketing communications and staff development.
Peter Horvath, president of Quality Chekd states that “To our members, the Weber Award is like winning a gold medal at the Olympics as it signifies the highest levels of performance. We congratulate Umpqua Dairy on this noteworthy achievement.”
The Production Excellence Award in the Cultured Products and Ice Cream categories recognizes the best single plant for production quality excellence in those two areas. Selection criteria for the Production Excellence Award in the Cultured Products and Ice Cream Categories include results of unannounced plant visits, an evaluation of a plant’s process and systems for assuring product quality, and laboratory test scores.
“Overall production quality is a very important matter to every Quality Chekd member” says Peter Horvath, president of the organization. “The Production Excellence Award in the Cultured Products and Ice Cream Categories acknowledges top production, and this year Umpqua Dairy has earned this status as an award finalist through their effort to place a high priority on production quality.”
As finalists for both the 2015 Outstanding Marketing Achievement Award’s Best Single Product Campaign’ and ‘Best Integrated Marketing Campaign’ categories, Umpqua Dairy will compete for the ‘Best In Class’ for its marketing programs. Entries are judged by an independent panel that reviews each dairy’s marketing plan, goals, strategy, promotional materials, merchandising programs, their ability to enhance brand awareness and generate positive sales results.
