SOUTH HAVEN, MI — The best bacon in the state this year is the same South Haven bacon that was Grand Champion in a national competition last year, said Scott Filbrandt, manager and co-owner of Bob's Processing in South Haven.
Filbrandt and his father, Bob, took Best of Show for their bacon entry at the the Michigan Meat Association Cured Meat Competition held recently in Lansing, according to a news release from the association.
The thick-sliced bacon is made by a recipe the Filbrandts have been perfecting for 20 years, Scott said.
