It may be the dead of winter. But there's a surprising amount of sprouting going on.
Fresh alfalfa sprouts, you already know. And other seeds — broccoli, red clover and onion, to name a few — are also cropping up as spindly sandwich toppers.
But forage around in the grocery store and you'll find an increasing variety of sprouted foods that range from simple dried sprouted lentils or sprouted brown rice to sprouted whole-grain bread, sprouted black bean chips and sprouted almond butter.
