Niman Makes The Case For Sustainable Beef At Talk

Have a beef with beef? Then plan to head to the intimate Saltwater Oyster Depot in Inverness on Feb. 17 for an important and mind-opening discussion on sustainable meat production with Nicole Hahn Niman.

Niman, an environmental lawyer and vegetarian-turned-cattle rancher, will talk about her new book, "Defending Beef: The Case for Sustainable Meat Production." In it, she explains the problems caused by industrialized food production and the importance of proper livestock management for maintaining grassland ecosystems.

Niman is married to rancher Bill Niman and together they founded BN Ranch, which sells grass-fed beef and lamb as well as heritage turkeys. The event is presented by Point Reyes Books in collaboration with Marin Organic. Seating is limited and reservations are required.
