To satisfy a growing consumer hunger for roast beef, corned beef, pastrami and other deli products, Saval Foods Corp. plans to expand its plant in Baltimore, a move that will double production capacity and mean more jobs, the president and CEO said Tuesday.
"Our customer base is growing," said Paul Saval, whose company plans a $3 million expansion of the Pulaski Highway plant that is expected to be operating by May.
The addition of 3,300 square feet for new cooking and cooling equipment is expected to double the 30,000-square-foot plant's capacity from 200,000 to 400,000 pounds a week, although Saval said he does not expect to be operating to that capacity right away.
