ABA-ATBI Boards to Meet with Top USDA Nutrition Official

Nutrition, Obesity and Hunger Policy – Focus for the 2010 ABA Policy Conference

The 2010 ABA Policy Conference will kick-off its activities with a session in the US Capitol Visitor’s Center with a session entitled, "The Childhood Obesity/Hunger Paradox: How to Win on Both Fronts” with an expert panel of speakers including “Congressional Moms” Representatives: Cynthia Lummis (R-WY-1); Kathy Dahlkemper (D-PA-3) and Jean Schmidt, (R-OH-2). GFF Advisory Board Member Sylvia Melendez Klinger will also speak along with GFF Partner Share Our Strength’s Chuck Scofield. After ABA members visit with their representatives on Capitol Hill, ABA Legal Counsel Peter Barton Hutt will address the group at the policy conference dinner (sponsored by Cain Food Industries Inc.) to highlight emerging regulatory issues at FDA. On June 11, ABA’s FTRAC will discuss sodium reduction strategy as well as other key nutrition, labeling and food safety issues. The International Food Information Council will provide an update on the results of their new Emerging Technologies Consumer Survey.
