Richard Guggisberg of the Millersburg-based Guggisberg Cheese Co. was named grand champion cheesemaker Wednesday during preliminary events for the 62nd annual Ohio Swiss Festival.
This is the fourth consecutive year Guggisberg has claimed grand champion honors. He officially was recognized Thursday, prior to the cheese auction.
Guggisberg earned top honors by accumulating 23 points in the three contests held to determine the grand and reserve champion cheesemaker. Contests are held during Dairy Month in June, during the Ohio State Fair and at the Ohio Swiss Festival.
