MAITLAND, Fla. – The Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association presented its Merchandiser of the Year Award to Winn-Dixie, a valued partner that has worked with producers to promote Florida products.
Winn-Dixie’s continual support for Florida agriculture has spanned many decades. Their support of local Florida producers is a testament to their commitment to helping local communities. It makes a strong statement to the retail community of their focus to help local farmers.
In nominating Winn-Dixie, Paul Allen of R.C. Hatton commended the retailer for its support for Florida agriculture spanning many decades. “Their support of local Florida producers is a testament to their commitment to helping local communities,” he said. “It makes a strong statement to the retail community of their focus to help local farmers.” This year, every Winn-Dixie store’s produce section featured photo displays of Florida farming families.
The award, announced at FFVA’s 71st Annual Convention in Naples, was accepted by Bob Denomme, director of produce, and category manager Barry Starnes.
