SEATTLE – The Community Advisory Board (CAB) of American Seafoods Company announced today that it is accepting applications for its Alaska community grant program. To be considered for a grant, all applications must be submitted by Friday, February 12.
Each year, the CAB community grant program awards $75,000 to community projects throughout rural Alaska. A total of $30,000 will be allocated by the CAB in February to various community projects tackling issues such as hunger, housing, safety, education, research, natural resources and cultural activities.
During the December 2009 CAB meeting, 30 programs were awarded grants totaling over $31,000. The CAB evaluates each proposal based on the following criteria: the need in the community, project benefits, the number of people that will benefit from the program, who the award is intended for, and the ability to garner additional funding. Grant recipients will be selected at the CABs meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 23.
