BOISE – Golbon is pleased to announce the addition of Marcus Food Co. located in Wichita, Kansas, and the addition of Frasa International Trading, N.V. located in Oranjestad, Aruba.
About Marcus Food Co. The Marcus family has been in the beef business since 1936 in Chicago where Sam Marcus founded Excel Packing Co. before moving the operation to Wichita, Kansas, in 1941. Excel merged with Missouri Beef in 1974, becoming MBPXL. Marcus Food was formed in May of 1980 by Sam’s son, Howard Marcus, following the sale of MBPXL to Cargill. Originally started as a brokerage company, Marcus Food soon evolved into a national and international marketing and trading company specializing in beef, pork, poultry, and some processed meats.
Through a superior knowledge of meat and other protein products, and thorough understanding of the marketplace, Marcus Food’s goal is to provide unique services to their customers and act as an extension of the marketing arms of their suppliers. Their core competency is knowledge of products, availability of such products, current and historical pricing trends of products, and respect for their customers, suppliers, and lenders. Marcus Food has multiple sales offices and traders in the U.S. and Canada that market beef, pork, chicken, turkey, seafood, and further processed foodstuffs. As well as doing domestic sales, Marcus Food exports product to customers in approximately 40 countries.
Today, Marcus Food is a multi-dimensional operation managed by CEO Howard Marcus, CEO; Jerry Marcus, President; Keith Alter, COO; and Billy Marcus, Vice President of Sales.
