BOSTONThe New England Fishery Management Council has agreed to a review of restrictions it placed on scallop fishing.
Council Chairman John Pappalardo said Monday that the Scallop Fishery Management Plan would be discussed and voted on during the council’s Jan. 26-28 meeting in Portsmouth, N.H.
The announcement came one day after Pappalardo met with Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and Ian Bowles, the state Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs. The governor urged fishery managers to reconsider the restrictions because of questions surrounding the science behind the decision.
