Frederick County, VA Board Of Supervisors Recognizes HP Hood

WINCHESTER, VA – The Winchester-Frederick County Economic Development Commission is pleased to announce that HP Hood, one of the largest branded dairy operations and one of the most experienced ESL and aseptic plastic processors in the United States, has been recognized by the Frederick County Board of Supervisors for its selection as Dairy Foods' 2013 Dairy Processor of the Year. HP Hood operates its flagship extended-shelf-life production facility in Frederick County, where it has expanded four times since it opened in 1999. The County Board of Supervisors presented HP Hood with a Proclamation recognizing the award at a special presentation on Wednesday, June 25, 2014.

"HP Hood has continued to invest in the Frederick County community through its numerous expansion efforts and by offering quality jobs for our citizens," said Frederick County Board of Supervisors Chairman Richard Shickle. "We offer our congratulations on the recognition they've received and look forward to continued success for Hood in Frederick County."

"Manufacturing operations like HP Hood are critical to the success of our local economy," said Patrick Barker, executive director of the Winchester-Frederick County Economic Development Commission. "This proclamation is a showing of gratitude for Hood's continued investment in our community and citizens and its dedication to environmental stewardship. We couldn't be more pleased to have its flagship operation in Frederick County."

HP Hood's unique four-point strategy of manufacturing branded, private label, licensed and co-packed dairy foods and beverages contributed to its selection as the Processor of the Year. HP Hood's products are available throughout the United States at chain and independent food retailers, convenience stores, and foodservice purveyors. Since establishing a manufacturing facility in Frederick County in 1999, HP Hood has expanded its manufacturing capacity in 2001, 2004, 2010, and most recently a project that is currently underway. HP Hood continues to invest in new equipment and technologies and is working toward achieving zero-waste-to-landfill in all plants.

"Thanks to HP Hood's processing plant in Winchester, we are able to offer our customers a coast-to-coast processing solution," said Marc Humphreys, Hood's Director of Operations, "We're proud to be an integral part of the community, and we're honored to receive this recognition."
