Wagshal's Imports first received the coveted sofi™ Gold Award for their smoked panceta in 2012. The winning panceta, which is noted for its luxurious distinct nutty, buttery flavor with the right amount of hickory, has gained a loyal following among celebrity chefs nationwide for its depth of flavor, versatility and health benefits. Winners for the 2014 sofi™ will be announced at the Summer Fancy Food Show in June.

A national panel of specialty food professionals tasted and evaluated 2,025 specialty foods and beverages across 30 categories to come up with their list of 109 finalists. Judges included top buyers from Whole Foods, Fresh Direct and Mollie Stone's Market as well other respected retailers, a food historian and journalists from Food & Wine, The Wall Street Journal, Edible Manhattan and Cooking Stoned.
