Salinas, CA – The 2014 harvest of Colorful Harvest’s unique Ruby Jewel ® sweet red corn begins TODAY. But this rare and colorful sweet corn is only in season for a few weeks each year and it can be a little hard to find in the stores. So Colorful Harvest thought they’d have some fun on social media by asking consumers to help each other “FIND THE RUBY JEWEL”, and maybe win some money too.
The “FIND THE RUBY JEWEL” contest allows people who photograph the corn on store shelves to be entered into a drawing for several cash prizes. Each photo will be uploaded on Instagram and posted to a map on the Colorful Harvest website that shows the precise location of the store where it was taken.
“Even store employees are eligible,” said Steffanie Smith, Colorful Harvest CEO. “So there is a double incentive for them to participate if they are carrying the sweet red corn… build traffic in their produce department and be entered in the prize drawing.”
