Oystermen and distributors continue to complain of low supplies of the bivalves as the industry plans its annual convention for next week in Kenner.
Oyster prices are high, higher than some distributors say they have ever seen. Local oystermen and processors have complained of poor oyster growth in coastal areas, and especially in public beds in recent years. They say problems persist today.
Industry members will meet Friday for this year's Louisiana Oyster Industry Convention to discuss topics dealing with the condition and future of the industry.
