HENRICO, VA – Central Virginia could soon get its first taste of a grocery store with a rabid following in the Northeast.
Wegmans Food Markets confirmed plans Wednesday to open two stores, one in Chesterfield and another in Henrico.
"Over the years, we have had countless requests to open a Wegmans store in the Richmond area, so we are delighted to finally announce that we're headed there," says Ralph Uttaro, Wegmans senior vice president of real estate.
The Chesterfield store is proposed as the new anchor of the Stonehenge Village Shopping Center in Midlothian, about a mile west of Chesterfield Town Center on Midlothian Turnpike. Stonehenge Village will eventually have around 230,000 square feet of retail, including a grocery store, restaurants and other shops.
