Extreme winter weather combined with a wet and chilly spring have Michigan’s fruit, vegetable and flower growers worried about delayed planting seasons and diminished crop yields.
Sarah Pappas has had similar delays. Pappas, owner of the new Fresh Cut Flower Farm in Detroit, said she had to delay the start of her first Weekly Bouquet Service from May 15 to May 29.
On one hand, that resulted in extra work to contact customers for the sold-out weekly flower arrangement.
On the other hand, Pappas says the delay may have fueled more orders for the delivery service.
