Kroger announced it will no longer offer double coupons in its Columbus division.
The change will be effective May 1 and takes place as the division, which extends from Columbus to Toledo, begins reducing prices across its stores. The price cuts will be in place by April 1 and include produce, natural foods and organics as well as other items. Double couponing is the practice of automatically doubling the face value of a coupon.
“Our customers are telling us they want convenience, and they obviously want the best value for their grocery dollar,” Kroger spokeswoman Jackie Siekmann said via email. “With only 2 percent of our customers considered ‘heavy paper coupon users,’ we believe that lowering prices and investing digitally will benefit all of our customers.”
