Cal-Maine Foods Inc. said its fiscal third-quarter sales and profit increased in large part because of higher prices and continued growth in its specialty-egg business.
The company CALM -1.57% has posted higher revenue recently, mainly because of higher average selling prices. The company has also worked to meet raised demand for its higher-priced specialty eggs, including organic and cage-free types.
Specialty-egg sales rose 9% in the quarter, accounting for 17% of total egg sales revenue.
