Awe Sum Organics Has Raised Over $450,000 For The Communities Of Their Growers

Fair Trade is thriving, enabling sustainable development and community empowerment. Awe Sum Organics has taken fair trade two steps further with their support of the Fair for Life program which is certified by IMO, an organic and fair trade certifier based in Switzerland. From the growers, to the workers, and all through the distribution chain, it provides ethical standards and momentum in a growing transparency that provides information on what you’re eating and where it comes from.

Sales of Fair Trade USA products grew by 70% from 2011 to 2012, while in the U.S., 2012 Fair for Life sales increased by 38% and this trend continues to grow.  A joint study in 2011 by Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and London School of Economics found that “adding a Fair Trade Certified label to a product resulted in a sales increase of about 10%”. Global Consumers Voice Demand for Greater Corporate Responsibility found that “Ninety-four percent of consumers are likely to switch brands to one that is associated with a good cause”.

To date, Awe Sum Organics has collected over $450,000 in premiums under the Fair for Life certification. These funds directly impact the communities that grow and pack our fruit, providing programs to those that need it most, the workers and their families. The Fair for Life program includes criteria such as fair wages and good working conditions.  It also benefits education, healthcare and wellness support in the local communities of our growers and their workers.

Sustainability for the environment, the planet, the growers and workers is the number one priority for Awe Sum Organics. Through Fair for Life, we’re all making progress towards a better planet, by making a difference in the lives of those who grow and pack our fruit.
