Plans emerged this week for two more Walmart Neighborhood Market grocery stores in the Triad, and the retailing behemoth has plans to continue its aggressive grocery store push throughout the state.
Walmart has six neighborhood markets open in North Carolina — Charlotte, Morrisville, Greensboro, High Point and two in Cary — and seven more under construction, including locations in Kernersville and Winston-Salem.
“Our CEO has talked about expanding our smaller format stores. They’ve proven to be popular,” said Walmart spokesman Bill Wertz. “These neighborhood markets fit in well into existing shopping centers.”
