CBS's Recipe Rehab To Feature CAB Brand Ambassador Keoni Chang

WOOSTER, Ohio – Chef Keoni Chang, corporate chef of Hawaii’s Foodland Super Market and Certified Angus Beef ® brand ambassador, will be taking his passion for educating consumers about cooking to a national audience. Chang, along with the Nelson family of Five Star Land & Livestock, recently filmed episodes of the award-winning Saturday morning program Recipe Rehab, which will be airing across the country on CBS affiliates. As a treat to cast and crew, as well as viewers, one of the two episodes featuring the Certified Angus Beef ® brand was filmed at the Nelson’s working ranch in Wilton, Calif.

On each Recipe Rehab episode, a family submits its favorite high-calorie, family-style recipe, and two chefs face off in a head-to-head competition to give the recipe a more healthful twist. After making each rehabbed recipe in its own kitchen, the family chooses its new favorite. The recipe makeover challenge promotes making better ingredient choices and demonstrates how a few modern changes can transform a family favorite into a healthier meal. Chef Keoni will compete against the show’s Chef Richard and Chef Vikki, with families and viewers being the true winners.

“My career has taken me to the finest restaurants; however, at Foodland I can share my knowledge of food and cooking with our customers and help them apply it in their everyday lives,” explains Chang.  “It was a pleasure cooking on-air with the Certified Angus Beef ® brand and I look forward to everyone watching the episodes and trying the recipes at home.”

In one episode, Chef Keoni and Chef Richard rehab a family recipe of Abbie Nelson, matriarch of a fifth-generation ranching family. Her great-grandfather, a cattle buyer from Iowa, was one of the first to import Angus cattle from Scotland in the 1800s. Today, Nelson and her husband, Mark, grow high-quality beef on the family’s central California pastures.

“Producing premium beef is a way of life and it was a pleasure hosting Recipe Rehab on our ranch,” explains Nelson. “Today’s ranching families are truly stewards of the land and we are glad we were able to share this message.”
