A new way of making dough might slim the waist of the Pillsbury Doughboy and reduce his sodium intake.
General Mills Inc., who owns the Pillsbury brand, filed a patent application published last month that would lower sodium and fat in the dough for biscuits, pie crusts and sweet rolls.
The patent is for what General Mills calls shortening particle compositions, or shortening chips.
