The Boise-based Albertsons chain plans to close 26 stores around the country by next month. At least three more stores, including one in Idaho, will change ownership because of previous agreements.
A spokeswoman said the company will close:
- 11 stores in Southern California
- Two in Las Vegas
- One in Albuquerque, N.M.
- One in Phoenix, Ariz.
- Five in Washington
- Two in Oregon
- Two stores with the Acme Markets banner in Pennsylvania
- Two stores with the Shaw's banner in Massachusetts
Two Acme Market stores in the chain located in Philadelphia are closing after their leases expire, spokeswoman Christine Wilcox said. "Not all of these locations were [slated for closure] strictly for underperformance," she said.
