WASHINGTON, D.C. “ABA is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Jim Williams, past Chairman of B.C. Williams Bakery Service, Dallas, Texas. The entire baking industry has lost a principled leader and friend,” said American Bakers Association President & CEO Robb MacKie. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Bowman, Mary, and the rest of the Williams family.”
“Jim was a tremendous leader of his company and the industry. He also was very devoted to his family. One of his proudest moments was celebrating multiple generations working together at B.C. Williams. Jim always had a kind, supportive word for everyone with whom he came in contact. He counted his blessings by the number of friends with whom he communicated via written notes. Jim and Lois were fixtures at ABA and industry functions for over 50 years and will be sorely missed,” continued MacKie.
Jim Williams was a very active and supportive member of ABA for over 50 years. His advice and wise counsel were invaluable to charting ABA’s successful course on many fronts. He also embodied the true spirit of industry collaboration at ABA events.
“When I think of Jim Williams, I am reminded of the famous quote, ‘When you ask God for a gift, be thankful if he sends not diamonds, riches, nor pearls, but the love of real true friends.’” said MacKie. “Jim was incredibly blessed with the richness of friends.”
ABA has been informed that services are taking place on Saturday, January 18 at the Sanctuary of Highland Park Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Highland Park Presbyterian Church Foundation, 3821 University Blvd., Dallas, TX 75205, or to the charity of your choice.
