Along with the New Year, Sun Coast Farming, Sun Coast Sales and Sun Coast Texas will start the year with a new name, Sun Coast Farms LLC.
“I am consolidating three of my company into one to allow us to take advantage of some of the synergies with each of the companies, one accounting, one human resources and so on” say owner Sonny Smith. Coinciding with the name change will be a new logo and additional brands. “As we expand our product base and customer base we felt that a new logo that exemplifies our core competencies was in order, adds Steve Poindexter, C.E.O. “And as we continue to grow our retail business segment we wanted to find a brand that the consumer could relate to during their shopping experience so we’ve created our "TRUE GROW" brand," he continued.
With Sun Coast Farms continued growth in the vegetable category on the California coast they are expanding into the Nogales vegetable program and also looking at various fruit items that would complement their overall programs. While their Texas fresh cut program has been mainly a vegetable operation they are seeing more demand for fresh cut fruit. “Our Texas fresh cut operation is really a service business and we need to listen to the wants and needs of our customers then service that market “ says Mr. Poindexter. With the addition of a newly added state of the art equipment by Ilapak machinery that was put into operation last month the company will be able to increase production by fifty percent allowing for the addition of cut fruit items. ‘Our goal is to get the consumer to identify with our “TRUE GROW” brand and to be confident that it will meet all of their expectation in both flavor profiles and food safety.
Sun Coast Farms currently farms over 4,000 acres in California and Arizona.
