Midland Farms Steps In To Fill Potential Supply Void Caused By Closing Of NJ Dairy

Midland Farms, Inc. is increasing capacity and expanding operations to help meet customer needs caused by the shut down of Farmland Dairies™ LLC operations within 60 days. Local grocery stores, convenience stores and restaurant suppliers will have to select new supply sources for milk and dairy products within weeks. The 60-day disclosure is required in NJ by The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN).

As part of a nine-month capital improvement initiative to help meet demand for reliable dairy delivery in the NY Metro area, Midland Farms is increasing production capacity by 30% to ensure adequate supply is accessible to the most populated area in the nation. To date, six new employees have been hired and six to 12 will be added within the next three months. In addition to current customers, these facility enhancements are designed to serve new customers in the 5 Boroughs, Long Island and the counties of Orange, Rockland and Westchester as well as western Connecticut.

Rick Sedotto, Plant Manager for Midland Farms explains, “Operating a dairy can be a brutal business. It demands a commitment to quality and community that we honor with the current capital improvements. The ownership of Midland Farms has three generations of experience in the dairy business and has put together a workforce that knows it takes teamwork, decades of hands-on knowledge, continual improvements and respect for tradition to succeed. Being able to help fill a potential dairy supply shortage in the NY Metro Area is a responsibility we take seriously and we welcome the opportunity to serve new customers.”

Midland Farms is based in the Albany area of Upstate, NY and has an additional distribution center in Paterson, NJ.
