ST. LOUIS – For the second consecutive year, Schnucks Delis and Specialty Cheese Shops are teaming up with Sartori Cheese and Heartland Creamery to help Make-A-Wish® Missouri grant the wish of a young lady with Florida on her mind! Joining them this year to help make the wish come true are Beemster Cheese, Stacy’s Pita Chips¸ President Brand Cheese Products and Klement’s Sausage.
Five-year-old Eavan is battling Complex Congenital Heart Disease which is the malformation of structures in the heart from birth. Eavan had her first surgery at five days old and has had four more since. Since Eavan’s body has a hard time cooling itself, her family relocated from the warmer Texas climate to St. Louis last year. Eavan requires a feeding tube and an oxygen machine at all times, and even though she is not able to walk she is quite skilled at using her wheel chair to move around the house.
Eavan’s wish is to go to Walt Disney World to meet Mickey and Minnie Mouse, but this princess’ favorites are Disney Princesses Cinderella and Tiana! In fact, she is known to quite often sport tiaras, dresses and bows in her hair so that she too has the princess look.
“Eavan has an amazing personality and a beautiful sparkle in her eyes,” says Schnucks Cheese Category Manager Derick Rosinsky. “Her laugh is contagious to anyone in the room. She loves attention and loves having her picture taken.”
According to Rosinsky, during the month of September, Schnucks and its vendor partners will donate a percentage of sales from specially-stickered items to Make-A-Wish® Missouri to grant Eavan’s wish. (Please see complete list below.)
“Her family is humbled, excited and appreciative of the $6,000 goal that we have set. We’re going to make sure Eavan’s wish comes true in a big way,” Rosinsky says.
"As the family leaves for the Magic Kingdom, we’re planning a grand send off from our Des Peres store (12332 Manchester Road) Saturday, Oct. 5 at 10 a.m., and we want to fill the parking lot with supporters of Eavan,” says Rosinsky. “We plan on creating a pathway for the Wish child and her family to drive through and then releasing balloons as they pass by. It will be a really powerful moment for all of us.”
