Get ready, America: This is the year of the finger lime.
As cooking shows and fancy food designers begin featuring this fresh new treat, a wave of interest is building among U.S. consumers.
A native of Australia, this popular citrus fruit is filled with tiny, individual pearls that burst forth with a bright lemon-lime flavor and give it its nickname: citrus caviar. These delicate pearls take the ordinary to the extraordinary when used as a garnish or ingredient in seafood, salads, cocktails or desserts.
Citriburst™ Finger Limes are now in season and ready to ship from Shanley Farms in Visalia, CA. The season for these small fruits, which are about the size of your thumb, starts now and continues through December.
Citriburst™ Finger Limes are available two ways: in flats of 12 half-pint clamshells (25 to 30 finger limes per clamshell); or in merchandising cases of 12 (40g) bags (6 to 8 finger limes per bag). They can be displayed as a specialty item with liquor or seafood, as well as becoming the star of your produce department.
