Low-income seniors living in Bucks County can receive free fruits and vegetables from local farmers markets.
The Bucks County Area Agency on Aging said it is teaming up with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture to offer vouchers for the fresh produce from area farms.
The county said it has received about 16,000 vouchers from the state in amounts of $5 apiece. Those vouchers will be offered in amounts of $20 and $40 to seniors, depending on income level, while supplies last.
To be eligible, seniors must be age 60 or older, live in Bucks and meet certain program guidelines. Single people can make no more than $21,259 per year. Couples should have incomes of $28,694 or less. Families of three must gross $33,131 or less. Groups of four can earn no more than $43,568, under the program guidelines.
