“Oh, yeah, we deliver to Mesker Zoo. The turtles eat collard greens,” said Ian Navarro, Director of Gourmet Foods for Creation Gardens produce and gourmet company. “The giraffes have to have the larger papayas; the little ones they’ll choke on, so they have to be big enough for them to bite it and chew before they swallow it.
“People ask if we send the zoo the leftover stuff, but absolutely not. Those animals have to have the freshest vegetables.”
It’s all in a day’s work for guys like Navarro and Creation Gardens Managing Partner Randy Bush, who oversees the Evansville and Owensboro area delivery from the home-grown Louisville produce company.
