After a successful Earth Day Week, Interrupcion is setting up for promotions to celebrate the WFTD.
During Earth Day week, retailers expressed their support for a sustainable future by promoting organic and fair trade items, among them Taste Me Do Good galas, packhams, and d’anjous from Argentina, and Ecuadorian bananas. Buehler’s Fine Foods had displays of Fair Trade Organic Gala 3lb bags with pictures up of the farms and farmers, Price Chopper commemorated the day with a Taste Me Do Good Organic Red Bartlett bag promotion, and Busch's Fresh Food Market launched Fair Trade Organic Bananas to mark Earth Day, April 22nd.
As consumers demand healthier and environmentally friendly options, but also want to know where their food comes from, organic and fair trade products are sold increasingly in supermarkets and specialty outlets. According to United Fresh Produce Association, organic fruit jumped 23% in the fourth quarter 2012 compared with the fourth quarter of 2011. SPINS announced 14% growth for fair trade food sales in 2013.
This market expansion boosted Taste Me Do Good up 200% from last year, which means more social premiums and better working conditions for field workers. Currently, Interrupcion is setting up for promotions and build-ups in May 12th for World Fair Trade Day. Each promotional item comes with a strong story behind it and free point of sale material.
