WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. –Tops Friendly Markets, a leading full-service grocery retailer in upstate New York, northern Pennsylvania and northern Vermont celebrated today with the local community the official grand-re-opening under the Tops brand banner of the former Big M stores at 227 East Main Street in Elbridge, NY and 9 Mechanic Street in Jordan, NY.
The stores were part of an acquisition of three Big M supermarkets in the central NY area also including a store in Mexico, NY, announced in December, 2012. The Mexico store is located at 3385 Main Street in Mexico, NY and is currently undergoing renovations, and will celebrate a grand reopening later this year.
“The entire Tops team has worked very hard to ensure that our Jordan and Elbridge customers will have a more enjoyable shopping experience as they see the many changes in the setting, amenities and wide variety of fresh products that our neighborhood stores will offer,” said Frank Curci, Tops’ president and CEO. “And we will also continue to be active members of the local community.”
In addition to enjoying a wider variety and selection of national and corporate brand products, among the changes at the Elbridge and Jordan stores include new signage, new store fronts and new interior décor. The stores also boast upgraded produce, bakery, deli, meat and seafood departments along with expended dairy and frozen food sections. In addition, the Elbridge store customers will find a new, healthy, natural and organic, as well as bulk and floral sections. The 25,521 square-foot Elbridge location underwent an $800,000 remodel and the Jordan store, at 11,299 square-feet underwent a $300,000 remodel.
Ceremonies featured the participation of community leaders and Tops leadership as well as donations made on behalf of Tops to various local charities through the company’s “Living Here. Giving Here” community partnership program.
Each of the following charitable organizations received a $500 donation as part of the stores’ grand reopening.
