Oregon Based Pacific Seafood Group Expands Operations To Chile

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Pacific Seafood Group, a family owned seafood company based in Portland, Ore.,  has announced the opening of a new operation in Santiago, Chile. Pacific Seafood and former Camanchaca, Inc. president, Gustavo Ross, have joined expertise and formed a new company, Pacific Seafood—Chile, that will directly source marine products to over 6500 Food Service and Retail Customers. 

“We look forward to improving relationships with our current Chilean and South American vendors and expanding our supply by creating a more hands on approach to the opportunities in South America,” said Frank Dulcich, President/CEO – Pacific Seafood. “We will expand our quality assurance and product sourcing by partnering with Gustavo, who has expansive experience and relationships in the region.”

“In addition to on-site QA inspections, we will expand product purchased and offered to our customers,” adds Gustavo Ross. “By having an office in South America, Pacific Seafood—Chile will be able to create more offerings for our customers as well as more opportunities for our vendors.”

After studying engineering for 5 years at the Universidad de Chile, Gustavo did his early training at two companies in the USA. Returning to his native Chile to begin his career in 1984, Gustavo worked at the main seafood cannery in the southern city of Puerto Montt with business concentrating in the Spanish and Asian markets.  He joined Camanchaca S.A. in 1989 as the commercial manager for all products, both aquaculture and wild caught. Gustavo eventually became president of the Camanchaca Inc. USA and Camanchaca Ltd. Tokyo-Japan divisions as well as serving on the Board of Directors from 2000-2010.
